There are many different myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnosis. We hope to clear them up here. The American Medical Association approved the use of hypnosis with medicine and surgery, and has been used by many doctors ever since.
Will the hypnotherapist be able to control my mind?
No. No one can control your mind except you. You are simply in an extremely focused state where your subconscious mind is 200 times more suggestible then when you are in the normal waking state. Any negative or inappropriate suggestion would be rejected automatically because you are still very aware.
Will I be made to do silly things like waddle like a duck or cluck like a chicken?
Of course not. This idea comes from what is known as stage hypnosis strictly used for entertainment. Unfortunately, if one has never been hypnotized, their only experience with hypnosis (other than naturally), will have been this entertainment form of hypnosis. Hypnosis is a very real and very serious form of healing.
What if I get "stuck" in hypnosis?
You always have the ability to come back in a normal state simply by the hypnpotherapist waking you up. Much like the sleep state, it is generally very easy to wake from hypnosis. Although some people enjoy this relaxed state so much, they choose to stay and relax a little longer.
Will I be made to reveal secrets that I do not want revealed?
Again, most of these myths are linked to control. You have complete control of your mind, but are just hyper-focused. You will not do, act, or say anything that you do not wish to.
How many sessions does it take to be cured?
Each person is different depending on the issue and the severity. We start the process by taking a history and can give you a general idea after we take the initial intake.
Do you take Insurance?
We do not accept insurance, although many insurance companies do cover hypnotherapy and may reimburse you for your treatment. Check with your carrier. We would be happy to answer any of their questions.
Will this be kept confidential?
We follow strict privacy laws, and the information shared in our sessions will be kept confidential unless you state otherwise.
